Knipper joins HNTB

Gay M. Knipper joined HNTB as senior program manager and vice president, specializing in program and construction management. She is based in the firm's New Orleans office and works with clients throughout the country.

Knipper has more than three decades of infrastructure experience and has been responsible for all aspects of management, administration and financial control on several multibillion-dollar PM/CM programs. She will play a key role in serving HNTB's clients, initially focusing on the firm's work with the Georgia Department of Transportation Major Mobility Investment Program.

Union Pacific announced it is consolidating its Council Bluffs Service Unit management with its Twin Cities, North Platte and Chicago service units effective July 15.

New Jersey Transit (NJT) has adopted a Fiscal Year 2018 budget of $3.6 billion "that supports continued investments in infrastructure and equipment to maintain the system in a state of good repair and enhance the overall customer experience."

The budget allocates $2.22 billion for operating and $1.38 billion for the agency's capital program.

Alpenglow Rail finalizes VIP Rail acquisition

Alpenglow Rail LLC completed its acquisition of VIP Rail LLC. This acquisition is a first for the Denver-based shortline rail business, which is backed by private equity firm Stonecourt Capital.

VIP Rail is a shortline rail business located in Sarnia, Ontario's chemical valley, with access to "key U.S. populations and major Quebec and Ontario markets including Toronto and Montreal." The business' service offerings include switching, transloading, railcar storage, railcar inspection, cleaning and repair, warehousing and trucking.
