NCRR names Walters as chairman of the board

Michael Walters has been elected to be chairman of the North Carolina Railroad Company's (NCRR) Board of Directors.

NCRR elected Walters during the September meeting of the board of directors. He succeeds Franklin Rouse, who has served as chairman since 2014 and will remain on the board.

SNC-Lavalin acquires asset management firm

SNC-Lavalin has acquired Data Transfer Solutions LLC (DTS) for $45 million. The company says the acquisition will add to the capabilities of SNC-Lavalin's Atkins sector and will enhance service offerings in digital asset management for clients.

"DTS is an exciting addition to our organization. The acquisition will add enhanced service offerings in digital asset management for clients and is in line with the company's stated strategy of expansion in digital technology to enhance efficiency of our service delivery to our clients across our core sectors," said Neil Bruce, president and CEO, SNC-Lavalin.

Port of South Louisiana commits to rail project

Dow St. Charles will be able to utilize rail as a shipping method thanks to a $9.5-million commitment from the Port of South Louisiana to build a rail link.

Dow's St. Charles Operations sits east of the port and consists of a 2,000-acre petrochemical manufacturing complex in Hahnville, La., which is upriver from New Orleans. Dow will lease the property the rail line will sit on from the port.
