CSX dubbed 'best place to work' based on disability inclusion practices

CSX has been determined a "best place to work" according to the 2016 Disability Equality Index (DEI), the Class I announced yesterday.

The railroad received a company-record score of 90 percent on the index, which tracks indicators of corporate disability inclusion, such as access, employment practices, culture and leadership, and community engagement and support services, CSX officials said in a press release.

The survey gives employers an opportunity to evaluate their disabilities inclusion practices.

Highlights of CSX's performance including launching a self-identification campaign related to disabilities, prioritizing disability as part of the company's "diversity and inclusion" strategy, and supporting a disability-focused business resource group including executive sponsorship and chief executive officer participation, CSX officials said.

"CSX continues to foster an environment where people from different backgrounds and experiences can contribute a variety of perspectives and solutions," said Diana Sorfleet, CSX's vice president, chief human resources and chief diversity officer.
