BNSF honors customers for sustainability efforts

BNSF Railway Co. yesterday announced the winners of its inaugural Sustainability Awards, which recognize customers for making operations more sustainable.

The six 2022 winners are U.S. Steel subsidiary Big River Steel, Chevron Phillips Chemical Co., Ford Motor Co., Global Clean Energy Holdings, J.B. Hunt Transportation Services Inc. and Marathon Petroleum Corp.

Award recipients are recognized for achievement in several categories, including investments in circular economy infrastructure, supply-chain efficiencies and sustainable technology implementation, BNSF officials said in a press release.

"We continue to partner with forward-thinking companies and organizations who recognize that sustainable supply chain solutions benefit all stakeholders involved," said BNSF Vice President of Environment and Sustainability John Lovenburg. "The winners are helping us build green supply chains that increase efficiencies and reduce emissions, positively impacting the environment and the communities we serve."
